MAKE YOUR OWN TEA LIGHT TREE

You can often draw a bit of a blank when deciding what to hang on an empty wall – a mirror, a painting, perhaps a clock? Well here’s an idea if you’re looking for something a little different…

Whilst out on one of my ventures, I came across an interesting metal wall hanging made to look like a silhouette of a tree. I was instantly drawn to it, though I wasn’t too keen on the black metal. In my mind, this would be perfect in a bedroom, but would need a bit of customising to make it a more relaxing and serene feature. I was really after something a little enchanting.

I decided I would spray the tree copper and get rid of all the black. Some of the leaves had a few mirror details though, which I didn’t want to spray over, so I ensured these were carefully covered with masking tape before spraying.

After spraying, I checked it was completely dry before selecting a few branches to bend forwards. I made sure this was an even spread.

Lastly, I used some basic shot glasses, large enough to hold a tea light, and with a strong glue I adhered these to the bent branches.

Instead of real tea lights, I used my Amazon remote control rechargeable tea lights.

This is a really simple way of producing something really quite unique. If you’re interested in making your own tea light tree, here’s a wall hanging I found on amazonwhich you might like…
